A customer is considered to have redeemed a coupon only when the purchase is successfully completed with that coupon applied. This means the transaction must finalize, and the payment must go through with the discount from the coupon factored into the final price. Simply selecting a coupon does not constitute redemption, as the customer might abandon the cart or choose not to use the coupon. Similarly, entering the coupon code at checkout isn't enough; the entire purchase process must conclude for it to be counted as redeemed.
