The data centers also have a private telecom link between them, but that link has experienced frequent disruptions. How can the company improve reliability between the two data centers?

Enabling Direct Connect SiteLink on the existing transit VIFs attached to the Direct Connect gateway allows direct data transfer between the two on-premises data centers over the AWS global network. This bypasses the unreliable private telecom link, leveraging the highly available Direct Connect infrastructure. SiteLink uses the existing Direct Connect connections and VIFs, simplifying configuration and improving reliability by utilizing AWS's robust backbone. Creating a new Direct Connect gateway is unnecessary as the existing one can support SiteLink. Public VIFs are for public AWS services, not for private data center-to-data center communication. Enabling SiteLink on the Direct Connect connections themselves is incorrect; SiteLink is enabled on the VIFs.
