A new vulnerability has been reported and the IT admin of a company checks with his Mobile Operator to see if there is a security update. The Mobile Operator says they do not have one ready yet but it will be available soon. What other update mechanism can the Admin check?

Google Play System Updates, also known as Project Mainline, allows Google to deliver critical security and privacy fixes to Android devices directly through the Google Play Store, independent of the device manufacturer or mobile operator. This mechanism ensures that devices receive timely updates for core OS components even if the operator or OEM is delayed. Searching for open-source updates on the web is unreliable and potentially introduces more security risks. Downloading patches directly from Google's website is not a standard or supported update mechanism for end-user devices. Deploying new devices is an impractical and costly solution for addressing a software vulnerability.
