A project has stalled. What should the project manager do to get it moving again?

The project team is closest to the work and often has the most direct understanding of what is causing delays and how to resolve them. Engaging them directly allows for a collaborative approach to problem-solving and leverages their collective knowledge and experience. While reviewing blockers in a daily standup, creating a Kanban board, or using an information radiator are all valid tools for tracking and communicating blockers, they are reactive measures. The fundamental first step to getting a stalled project moving is to understand the root causes of the blockers, which is best achieved by actively engaging the team members who are experiencing them.
