A project manager logs impediments discussed during daily team meetings. The risk register keeps growing and only a few impediments have been mitigated. What should the project manager do?

The project manager should identify critical impediments because not all impediments have the same impact. Prioritizing those that significantly threaten project objectives allows the team to focus mitigation efforts where they matter most, effectively managing the growing risk register. Asking the team to resolve all impediments without prioritization is inefficient and likely to fail given the growing list. Halting development is an extreme measure that would severely impact the project schedule and is not a practical first step. Discussing impediment removal with the sponsor is appropriate for significant, persistent issues, but the project manager first needs to understand which impediments are truly critical before escalating.
