An administrator built a custom AMI in the eu-west-2 Region and used it to start EC2 instances there. The administrator now needs to launch instances from that same AMI in us-east-1 and us-east-2. What must be done so the AMI can be used in those other Regions?

To use an AMI in a different AWS Region, you must explicitly copy it to that Region. AMIs are Region-specific resources, meaning an AMI created in eu-west-2 cannot be directly used to launch instances in us-east-1 or us-east-2 without being copied. Making the AMI public or sharing it with other accounts allows others to use it within the same Region, but doesn't make it available across Regions. Placing the AMI in an S3 bucket is incorrect; AMIs are stored in Amazon EBS snapshots and S3 for their components, but you interact with them via the EC2 console/API, not directly through S3 for cross-Region use.
