For web applications, an HTTP(S) Load Balancer is the appropriate choice as it is designed to handle HTTP and HTTPS traffic, offering features like URL-based routing, SSL termination, and global distribution, which are crucial for highly available web services. An SSL Proxy Load Balancer is typically used for non-HTTP(S) SSL traffic. A public DNS zone with an A record pointing to the load balancer's external IP address ensures that users can access the web application from the internet. Using a private DNS zone would restrict access to resources within your Google Cloud network. A CNAME record is used to alias one domain name to another, but for directly mapping a domain to an IP address, an A record is standard and efficient.
