For production-grade hybrid connectivity, high availability and disaster recovery are paramount. Provisioning two Dedicated Interconnect links in one metro and two in another, with each pair in different metro zones, provides redundancy at multiple levels: device, location, and geographic region. This design ensures connectivity even if an entire metro experiences an outage. Incorrect options: Two Partner Interconnect connections in one metro and different metro zones offer some redundancy but are still confined to a single geographic region, making them vulnerable to regional outages. Two on-prem VPN connections with VPN devices in separate racks provide device-level redundancy but typically offer lower bandwidth and higher latency than Interconnect, and are still limited to a single on-premises location. Direct Peering is primarily for exchanging traffic with Google's network at a peer location and does not provide a private, dedicated connection to your Google Cloud VPC network, nor does it inherently offer the same level of redundancy for hybrid connectivity.
