To use Plug-and-Play detection for driver installation in MDT, you must first create a selection profile. A selection profile defines which drivers MDT considers during the driver injection phase of a task sequence. By creating a selection profile that includes the specific Out-of-Box Drivers folder for your hardware model, you enable MDT to use Plug-and-Play IDs to match and install the correct drivers. Importing an operating system package is for the OS itself, not driver selection. Adding Gather or Validate tasks are general task sequence steps and do not directly control driver selection logic for Plug-and-Play.
