In STP, what is the root port?

The root port is the port on a non-root switch that provides the most efficient path (lowest cost) to the root bridge. Each non-root switch will have exactly one root port. This port is always in a forwarding state. The incorrect options describe other STP concepts or misrepresent the root port's function: "It is the port with the highest priority toward the root bridge" is incorrect; STP prioritizes lower costs, not higher priorities, for path selection.
