The Standard Client Upgrade Task Sequence template requires a full operating system source to perform an in-place upgrade. Importing a full set of source files (e.g., from an ISO) provides the necessary install.wim file and other components that MDT needs to execute the upgrade process. Without these source files, the task sequence cannot identify an operating system to upgrade to, hence no images appear. Enabling monitoring for the deployment share is for tracking deployments, not for providing OS images. Importing a custom image file is used for deploying a pre-configured image, not for in-place upgrades using a standard OS source. Running the Update Deployment Share Wizard applies changes to the deployment share but doesn't add new OS images; you must import them first.
