Migrating a business-critical app to GCP, you need data immediately available across a zonal failure. What should you do?

A regional persistent disk provides synchronous replication of data across two zones within the same region. This ensures high availability and immediate data access in the event of a zonal failure, as the disk can be attached to an instance in the healthy zone without needing to restore from a snapshot. Using a zonal persistent disk, even with snapshots, introduces recovery time objectives (RTO) and potential data loss (RPO) because you would need to create a new disk from a snapshot and attach it, which takes time. A zonal disk without snapshots offers no immediate recovery from a zonal failure. While snapshots are good for backup and disaster recovery, they don't provide the immediate availability across zones that a regional persistent disk does for business-critical applications.
