What can you do with calculated fields?

Calculated fields allow you to create new metrics or dimensions by applying mathematical formulas, functions, or logical expressions to existing fields in your data source. This is incredibly powerful for deriving new insights, such as calculating profit margins (revenue - cost), creating custom date ranges, or categorizing data based on specific criteria. While you can change an existing field's aggregation, that's a direct field property, not the primary function of a calculated field. Transforming tables into pie charts is a visualization function, not a data manipulation feature of calculated fields. Disabling fields is also a data source management task, separate from creating new data points with calculations.
