What is the purpose of extracting data?

Extracting data in Data Studio (Looker Studio) creates a static snapshot of a subset of your data. This is primarily done to improve report performance. By working with a smaller, pre-processed dataset, reports load and refresh much faster, especially when dealing with large or complex data sources. This extracted data is no longer live; it needs to be refreshed periodically to reflect changes in the original source. Incorrect options: Creating robust data sources with over 100MB of data: While extracts can handle significant data, their primary purpose isn't just size; it's performance optimization for any size, especially large ones. Maintaining a live connection: Data extraction explicitly breaks the live connection, creating a static copy. Using connectors not available through Google or partners: Data extraction uses existing connectors to pull data; it doesn't enable new connector types.
