This ensures that both the forward and reverse traffic paths traverse the same DRE-enabled devices, allowing them to consistently identify and process redundant data. Asymmetric routing would cause DRE to miss segments of the traffic flow, leading to incomplete pattern matching and reduced or no optimization benefits. Disabling shaping is unrelated to DRE's operational requirements. DRE can operate over various tunnel types, not exclusively GRE.
