Which feature does WPA provide?

WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) introduced TKIP (Temporal Key Integrity Protocol) and MIC (Message Integrity Check) as its primary encryption and integrity mechanisms. TKIP was designed as an interim solution to address the vulnerabilities of WEP without requiring hardware upgrades, offering per-packet key mixing, a message integrity check, and rekeying mechanisms. MIC prevents tampering with encrypted packets. While WPA also supports preshared keys and 802.1X authentication, these are authentication methods, not encryption features themselves. Preshared key is a method of key distribution, and 802.1X is an authentication framework. "Small Wi-Fi application" is not a feature of WPA.
