Which router becomes the IGMP Querier when multiple routers share a LAN segment?

When multiple routers are present on a LAN segment, the Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) querier is elected based on the lowest IP address. The router with the lowest IP address on that segment will assume the role of the IGMP querier. This router is responsible for sending IGMP queries to discover which multicast groups are active on the segment. The other routers act as non-queriers and simply forward multicast traffic. Uptime (shortest or longest) is not a factor in the IGMP querier election process. A higher IP address would result in the router not being elected as the querier.
