Which wireless design keeps APs fully functional if the wireless controller fails?

FlexConnect allows access points (APs) to operate in a standalone manner, continuing to serve clients even if the connection to the wireless controller is lost. This is achieved by locally switching data traffic and performing local authentication for clients. In contrast, centralized designs rely entirely on the controller for all data forwarding and control plane functions, making them vulnerable to controller failures. Mesh designs focus on wireless backhaul between APs, not controller redundancy. Embedded designs refer to controllers integrated into other devices, which doesn't inherently provide AP autonomy during controller failure.
