You have an Azure Virtual Desktop host pool in the East US region. To enable failover of the host pool to the West US region, what should you do first?

To enable disaster recovery for Azure Virtual Desktop host pools, Azure Site Recovery (ASR) is the recommended solution. ASR orchestrates the replication and failover of virtual machines. The first step in setting up ASR for any Azure VM, including Azure Virtual Desktop session hosts, is to create a Recovery Services vault. This vault stores the replication policies, recovery points, and manages the replication process. Creating a virtual machine snapshot of each session host is not a comprehensive disaster recovery solution for an entire host pool and would not facilitate automated failover to another region. Creating an Azure Storage account with GRS is useful for data redundancy but doesn't provide the necessary orchestration for VM failover. While you will eventually need to create a new host pool in the target region as part of the failover plan, it's not the first step for enabling the replication mechanism itself.
