In this scenario, it enables the Amsterdam office's on-premises network to communicate directly with the New York office's on-premises network over the Microsoft global network, leveraging their respective ExpressRoute connections. ExpressRoute FastPath improves data path performance by sending network traffic directly to virtual machines, bypassing the ExpressRoute gateway, but it doesn't connect two on-premises networks. ExpressRoute Direct provides direct connectivity to Microsoft's global network at peering locations, offering higher bandwidth and more control, but it's a connection type, not a feature for inter-office connectivity. ExpressRoute Local is a SKU that offers a cost-effective option for data transfer within the same metro area as the peering location, which is not applicable for intercontinental office communication.
